Nicholas Furey, a Revere, Massachusetts longshoreman, was found dead in a gulley by the highway, on Saturday 25th October 1941, three days after he went missing from his home. He had shot himself in the head.
A suicide note to his wife was found in his abandoned car. It simply read:
“Life ends at 40. Goodbye, Mary.”
